Why The "Unofficial"?

Yup, that's right, we are now the "unofficial" home page for Rocky Mountain National Park. Actually, we were all along, but nobody seemed to care, since no other sites for RMNP existed.

Now, we have gotten word that RMNP wants to make its own web page, without our help. I have tried again and again to gain the support of RMNP in my web page, but the park insists on having "total control" over all the contents. Since my page is built on contributions from users, I can not justify the park controlling it. And, after several other related problems with the park service, I decided to declare my site as the "unofficial" site. However, I and many others look forward to an "official" RMNP site, as it will provide accurate and up-to-date park info, not to mention the complementary nature of the proposed site to our own.

Apparently, we are not the only web site dealing with these problems. Check out the superb "unofficial" Grand Canyon National Park site.

This will probably mean nothing to you... We're still online, we are still answering your questions, and none of our material online will be changed because of this.

However, do note that we can not send out park brochures via snail-mail, or other information related to the park and surrounding areas. We do, however, have all of this information online, and if you desire a "hard copy" version, all you need is a printer. We also can not take camping reservations online, or forward messages to park employees. You will have to contact the park directly for these services (call 970-586-1333 for more information).
