Weather
"There are two rules to live by here: First, don't start
if the weather looks funky (You can't tell this from the parking
lot. My best day on the Diamond it was raining in Estes, raining
at the parking lot, and raining at Jim's Grove. We got above the
clouds at Chasm Lake and climbed in the sun and warmth all day.
Long's was part of an archipelago of island peaks poking up through
the murk. It was awesome. It had rained in Estes all day.) The
second rule is, Don't bail until the weather hits you. On the
Diamond, you're reasonably safe from lightning and even if it
does rain, it could either miss you or it will dry out quickly."

"I've been up there three times, three times it's snowed.
One time, we walked down in a whiteout, maybe thirty feet of visibility.
Hail was coming down sideways, and lighting was hitting everywhere
in the cirque. It snowed three inches by the time we got down.
Damn Scary!"
